Boating in HK

The best things in life are unexpected, unplanned & completely random. They truly are. If there's anything I've learned is when in doubt, just say yes (JSY as it is known to some out there). This weekend a friend of mine asked if I wanted to go fishing&boating in HK. I said yes. Turned out to be one of the best experiences of my time here in HK & a memory I will hold oh so close to my heart forevaeva, evaeva *cue Kanye forevaeva voice now. But in all seriousness, the day was nothing but perfection. We headed to Sai Kung area to meet with a local who took us on his gorgeous family boat & we were off to fish, bbq aboard the boat, swim, soak in the sun & thoroughly enjoy the impromptu lazy sunday. After some maja fishing (I actually caught some fish haha) we took our best catches to a local restaurant & had them steamed&fried, along with some other seafood goodness that we ordered. All in all...BEST.DAY.EVER.

Food in HK V [Noodles+Desserts]

There really is nothing better than good friends+good food... well I guess the better combination could be GREAT FRIENDS+GREAT FOOD, ya that sounds better. Two of my favorites have traveled all zee way from the Great White North to Hong Kong/South East Asia to come see MEEEEE slash backpack this majestic continent. I was so so excited & decided that their first night had to be done RIGHT (foodwise of course)! I took them to 2 musts in HK - noodles & dessert. The first stop was Wing Wah Noodle Shop (in Wan Chai) where we munched on some delicious wonton soup, noodles w oyster sauce and more wontons. This inconspicuous spot is simple on decor+service but makes up for it with their intense tastes, aromas and homemade/handmade noodles. We then walked down a few more blocks & ate at a delicious little dessert chain called Honeymoon Dessert (I always wonder where they come up w these names, too hilar). This was a mouth watering experience where we each ordered a little bit of everything; banana&mango "pancakes" (they were not pancakes but small, doughy pockets filled w fruit&whipped cream), glutinous mango bites, sticky rice balls w peanuts&sesame seeds, this ice cream/shaved ice & fruit combo & a watermelon based "soup". Overall, uberly indulgent & deliciously awesome.

Food in HK IV [Si Sun Fast Food]

This is possibly one of my quickest posts ever... My friend Andrew & I just had this meal, a mere 3 hours ago & I was way too excited not to post it IMMEDIATELY. So here it is. I've done my job & that's that. Okie, a little more explanation is required...I suppose. This is what is called an "HK style cheeseburger". What exactly is an HK style cheeseburger? Essentially its a cheeseburger (surprise surprise) but with an egg inside. Sin Sun (one of the top spots in HK to have these little delicate heart-attack-in-a-meal) also has there special "mayo" to go along with it. One other tidbit; not sure if this meat is entirely pork or beef or a mix of both, but whatever it was, it was DELICIOUS. The burger+fries+iced milk tea (my new fave drink of course) came to a whopping HK$42...aka about $5. Perfecccccct. I'm going back b4 I leave...it is too good NOT to.
