HK Light Show

On Jennifer's first night, we went to the epic LIGHT SHOW (formally known as A Symphony of Lights, my b). We went to TST (Tsim Sha Tsui... say that 10 times fast, I dare you) & watched the show from the boardwalk there known as the Avenue of Stars. It was a decently clear night & the show was a beautiful array of sounds & lights. We took a gross amount of pictures but I was able to narrow it down to my 3 favorites.

Roller Coasters, Ice Cream & Scarves!

The title really says it all. Okie, maybe not to the nakie eye buuuut it is a fabulous summary of yet another day trip w my favorite lady Jennifer. We decided to let our inner child (who are we kidding, it's always out there) take over & indulged in some good old theme park & ice cream & beach stuff. We paid a visit to HKs very own, one & only, home grown theme park - Ocean Park. The park was absolutely MASSIVE & had a curiously elaborate layout with half the park at a lower ground area (called The Waterfront) & the other half up/over the mountain (called The Summit). We galavanted about, trying to find the "scariest rides" and we found some heart stoppers. What was possibly even more amazing was the incredible view we had on the Summit area of the park - you had a gorgeous view of various bays on either side with boats floating on their way.
After too many rides & some windy weather, we headed to Repulse Bay where we HAD TO try this insane ice cream store called Ice Cream Gallery. They have a small shop that offers a diverse/unique array of ice cream flavors including (but not limited to); lobster ice cream (that's right people), bacon&eggs, foie gras & japanese sake just to name a few (ps of course I taste tested all of them). I finally decided on a delicious lemon-ginger mixed which was quite flavorful & refreshing. We wandered along the beach for a bit before hoping on a bus to Stanley Market where we mozzied about & bought some scarves ($20HK each... cheapest I've seen in HK yet!).

dancing cupcakes...need I say more?

Our Day in Lantau Island

FINALLY! As promised, the first posting of many on the 10 glorious days that my roomie from Western Jennifer came to visit me in Hong Kong. Before I proceed with our various (and sometimes completely oblivious) adventures out&about, I would just like to say how amazing it was to have her here with me. Having her familiar face in this (still) foreign place was more than comforting & I am so fortunate to have been able to take her around this craycray city. Anyways, enough of that & more on our trips. For our first big trip we headed to Lantau Island to discover the Big Buddha, Po Lin Monastery, Wisdom Path, Tai O Fishing Village & some cows. Clearly I thought the cows were the best part but I suppose that's up to debate. We were lucky to have a not-so foggy day with some rays of sunshine here&there. This was definitely one of my favorite day trips & I'll probably return to HIKE up the Big Buddha mountain (we took the bus since the cable car was under repairs/maintenance).

Favorite Things Right Meow

I have an uber amount of posts+pics to upload in the very near/immediate future on my whereabouts the last 10 odd days (Big Buddha, Tai-O Fishing Village, Ocean Park, Stanley Market, Cheongju, Seoul etc...) but this requires photo uploads to occur. And I'm lazy. Slash busy showing Jennifer, my roomie from home, around HK & finishing some much needed hmwk for school (ya, I still have to do that while I'm here). In the meantime, here are my favorite things right this second - enjoy!

Taipei Me Crazy

Finally, the good stuff. Taipei was an extremely vibrant, lively & incredibly interesting city. The people, the smells, the sounds, the textures, the tastes... everything was beyond my expectations & sucked me into a deep love affair with the city. I don't want to drag on with chatty chit of what I liked/loved (aka everything) I feel like the following selected photos (out of 798 pictures taken...nbd) truly tell my Taipei experience.
